Neuro/NCC/NSGY guidance

Neurosyphilis

Consult ID if:
- Evidence of syphilis infection AND
- Clinical concern for neurosyphilis AND
- CSF WBC or protein are abnormal

Optic neuritis

- Clinical concern but not confirmed: consult ophtho
- Confirmed diagnosis: consult both ophtho and neuro

Stroke

Stroke Alert all patients with stroke-like symptoms within 24 hours of presentation
  • At this time, we do not differentiate concern for LVO vs. no LVO
  • Stroke alert may be deferred per provider discretion if clear history of non-CVA etiology of symptoms (eg. MS, migraine, seizures) and patient presenting with identical symptoms to past

  • No lytics: dispo per neuro
  • Lytics: ICU
  • Thrombectomy candidate: call transfer center for transfer
